The Palin effect

Are Americans really that nasty, shortsighted and/or stupid? A visit to Gallop suggests, yes! They report that McCain is now ahead in the polls for the first time since May. As my sister pointed out, Palin adds nothing to the presidency, since she has no experience and no ideas, but she does add something to the ticket: the spectacle of all the usual nasty Republican vitriol coming out of the mouth of a relative young, attractive mother of five. Apparently this shiny new package is enough distract us from usual garbage inside. So much for the benefits of not pitching to the lowest common denominator. Surely we’re the first nation to confuse a presidential election with a Top Ten MILF list.
