Pitt donated $100,000 to fight proposition 8, which would overturn legal same-sex marriage in California with a constitutional amendment.
Pitt’s statement:
Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8 (via the Washington Post)
A growing majority of Californians agree with Pitt, according to a recent poll (August 28) by the Public Policy Institute of California, indicating that 54 percent of voters will reject the proposition.

It’s nice to find unexpected allies, especially those with deep pockets. The live and let live aspect of his statement, although perhaps not as vehemently pro-gay-rights as I might desire, will hopefully strike a chord with California voters.
